PREFACE
In order to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, to deepen cultural exchange and cooperation between Fuqing and Indonesia, and to support the construction of the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" initiative between China and Indonesia, we are honored to invite renowned Indonesian overseas Chinese Mr. Ma Yongqian, whose ancestral home is Fuqing, to hold the Vast Motherland with Profound Ancient Cultural Heritage---Indonesian Overseas Chinese Ma Yongqiang Art Exhibition at the Fuqing Art Museum.
Starting from 1993, Mr. Ma Yongqiang began to explore his roots in China. He climbed upon the Great Wall, traveled to Sichuan, and trekked to western area of China. He was attracted by the magnificent landscapes and profound Chinese culture. He seeks between concreteness, abstraction, and spiritual imagery and gradually becomes a master of Chinese painting with his own characteristics. Ma Yongqiang's paintings are no longer about lines, ink, or changes in color and water, but about his personal cultivation, lofty aspirations, and the eruption of inner emotions. Their images are like a mountain, like clouds, and like the sea, yet their spirit is beyond mountains, the sky, and the sea. From his artwork, it can be seen that he has a deep understanding of the vast wilderness of Hongmeng, cosmic creation and the Way of Yin Yang Tai Chi, a philosophical reflection on the interplay between movement and stillness. His passion erupts like a volcano in his works.
This exhibition has been carefully selected and features 29 works of art by Mr. Ma Yongqiang, including two categories of paper ink and canvas oil paintings. Mr. Ma Yongqiang has specially created two fabric long scrolls of watercolor with a length of 20 meters and a height of 1.6 meters, namely Vast Motherland with Profound Ancient Cultural Heritage and Multicolored Mountains and Homesickness. These works, with their grand scale and magnificent momentum, vividly showcase Mr. Ma Yongqiang's exquisite artistic language and outstanding artistic vision. At the same time, they reflect his profound emotions towards Chinese culture and his unique insights into Indonesian culture. They will undoubtedly become the highlights of the exhibition. It is particularly worth mentioning that Mr. Ma Yongqiang has generously donated Vast Motherland With Profound Ancient Cultural Heritage to his hometown Fuqing as a permanent collection of the Fuqing Art Museum, which reflects his deep affection for his hometown and his noble character.
Vast Motherland with Profound Ancient Cultural Heritage---Indonesian Overseas Chinese Ma Yongqiang Art Exhibition is a visual feast and a heart-to-heart exchange, promoting resonance and dialogue among audiences with different cultural backgrounds. This exhibition is not only a display of Mr. Ma Yongqiang's art, but also an important bridge for promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and Indonesia, adding rich cultural connotations and artistic atmosphere to the construction of "Two Countries, Twin Parks". It is like a window, allowing audience friends to see the profoundness of Chinese culture and the unique charm of Indonesian culture.
Here, we sincerely thank Mr. Ma Yongqiang's selfless dedication and deep affection, and thank all the institutions and individuals who supported the exhibition. Let us immerse ourselves in Mr. Ma Yongqiang's paintings and witness the unique charm of cultural exchange between China and Indonesia. Let us look forward to the future, when Mr. Ma Yongqiang will create more eye-catching art masterpieces and makeeven greater contributions contributions to the exchange and development of Chinese and Indonesian cultures.
